In these scene files, only the TARGET (tetrahedron) has an animation
track.
All facial and body movements are accomplished with a rig of levers that are
arranged to
move in relationship to the Target by means of various targeting and restriction
tags.
There are no animation tracks for any of the characters' movements.
If you download the C4D files offered below, you will be able to create various
postures and expressions simply by manually moving the TARGET in the editor
window.
Her rig is modified only slightly to give her a cheerier disposition. |
Here ia a simplified rig that is used to move the lips.
The blue bar is targeting the TARGET (tetrahedron).
The yellow bar is targeting the light blue ball, which is a child of the blue
bar.
The green bar is targeting a Null below the TARGET.
The horizontal blocks are tagged to slave to the vertical height of their
respectively colored spheres,
and tagged to be restricted to the surface of the cylinder.
The horizontal blocks carry the PointCloud nulls for the lips.
The long green one carries the two for the corners of the mouth.

Here is a rig used to move the PointCloudNulls derived from the FFD with
NAAM's Splinamator.
Each group is targeting the TARGET, as indicated by the long bars, as well
as carrying PointCloudNull groups.
These are carried at the base of each pyramid.
Because the axis for each PointCloudNull group is offset, each layer of the FFD reacts differently to the proximity of the TARGET.
The illusion of his reaction time lag was created by having him follow a
different target.
The delayed target has an identical position track to the one of the tetrahedron,
but simply moved a few frames to the right in the time line.
Coming soon: rigs for automating facial expressions and hand movements.
